Shri Amit Nigam is an IPS officer of 2015 batch born on Nagaland cadre. Coming from a humble background, he pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering and began his career by joining the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). His strong dedication to public service led him to qualify for the Assistant Commandant exam for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). However, his civil service journey began when he cleared the exam for the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) in 2011-12, where he served as an Assistant Controller of Defence Accounts in Bangalore for nearly two years. Determined to further his career in public service, Shri Nigam reappeared for the UPSC exam and was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Excise) in 2014.
